Lexus Walker
Lexus Walker is a biracial woman and an Asheville native who is passionate about social justice and collective liberation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Appalachian State University and is fascinated by language. Lexus works as a Mission Advancement Fellow at the YWCA of Asheville. Through grant-writing, event support, and communications support she will help the YW to maintain sustainable equity efforts and will work to increase the impact of the YWCA’s mission in Asheville.
Lexus believes in intersectionality and wishes to connect communities and movements in order to achieve liberation for all. She knows that the voices of native Ashevillians and communities of color must be lifted up in order to make Asheville a more equitable city. Lexus has supported racial equity work in Asheville City Schools at Jones Elementary during her two years as an AmeriCorps member through Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC. She loves kids and dreams of a society in which they can achieve anything no matter where they come from, what they look like, or what obstacles they may face.
